about REELRADIO, Inc. - Our Directors & Information for Public Inspection

California law requires a minimum of two directors to establish a non-profit corporation, and REELRADIO, Inc. initially had two directors. On August 20, 2005, the Board of Directors voted to expand the Board to include one additional Director, for a total of three. Directors and Officers of the REELRADIO corporation receive no compensation for serving on the Board.
REELRADIO, Inc. welcomes the support of additional volunteers and advisors from the crowd of outstanding professionals and grateful listeners already involved with, or contributing to the REELRADIO Repository. The REELRADIO web site represents the efforts of many who contributed their time and shared their treasures. It continues to grow.
The Board of Directors is dedicated to the purposes and mission of REELRADIO, Inc., stated in our Articles of Incorporation:

1. To operate a non-profit organization to develop and maintain an Internet resource dedicated to preserving the history of radio, particularly those forms of popular music radio following the advent of television;
2. To acquire, restore and catalogue recordings, pictures and historical information relating to the history of radio;
3. To provide affordable access to archives of radio history through public computer networks;
4. To raise, receive, administer and disburse funds and other resources in furtherance of the aforestated purposes;
5. To receive contributions and make donations to, dispense contributions through, and otherwise aid and support those organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law); and
6. To have and to exercise all rights and powers conferred on non-profit corporations under the laws of the State of California, including the power to contract, rent, buy or sell personal or real property.

Our Directors

Richard Irwin
THE PRESIDENT and CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER is Richard Irwin ("Uncle Ricky"), the founder of the "Reel Top 40 Radio Repository". In 1965 at the age of 14, Richard started his radio career in Concord, N.C. He worked in Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and California as an air talent, Program Director, Operations Manager and Chief Engineer. He was one of the first "Web Designers" for several government clients beginning in 1995, and he lives in Sacramento, California. In addition to maintaining the REELRADIO website, Richard writes web application software.

Michael Burgess
THE SECRETARY, TREASURER and CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER is Michael Burgess, better known as Mike Scott to his radio and TV audience. Mike was a DJ at WSAR (Fall River, MA) and WJAR (Providence) before joining WFEC, Harrisburg, PA. and KAFY Bakersfield, CA. as news director — where he left radio for television. He's been reporting news at CBS afilliate TV-47 in Fresno, California for over twenty years. SPECIAL ADVISOR TO THE BOARD is Bob Shannon. Shannon's 39-year radio career has taken him from Tehran, Iran to Dallas, TX. The past Vice President/Creative for TM Century, Shannon now runs BobShannonWorks, a company that writes, produces and manages talent. Bob also wrote a weekly column (All Them Big Dogs) for online trade publication AllAccess.com. As Special Advisor and a voting member of the Board of Directors, Bob will organize efforts to develop underwriting for the REELRADIO organization.

Tax-exempt organizations (like REELRADIO, Inc.) are required to make certain information and documents available to the public.

An Annual Information Report includes a copy of Form 990, "Return of Organizations Exempt From Income Tax", unless more than three years have passed from the date the return was required to be filed. Form 990 (or 990-EZ) is required if annual gross receipts exceed $25,000.

REELRADIO filed Form 8718, "User Fee for Exempt Organization Determination Letter Request", and Form 1023, "Application for Recognition of Exemption" with the Internal Revenue Service on October 31, 2000. On December 5, 2000, the IRS notified REELRADIO of exempt status during an Advance Ruling Period beginning on March 23, 2000, and ending December 31, 2004. Following submission of Form 8734, "Support Schedule for Advance Ruling Period", on March 21, 2005, the Internal Revenue Service notified REELRADIO that we would continue to be classified as an organization exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
