I suspect someone at WTIX had been to Los Angeles (or had a friend with a tape recorder), because The Big Kahuna promotion was certainly not originated in New Orleans. And KHJ certainly did not have online continuous reverb in 1966, but WTIX did! Both KHJ and WTIX had 20/20 news. In fact, it's important to note how important NEWS was to this Storz station. Best guess - this was early August, 1966. Fairly hip and streamlined, but nowhere near as manic as Buzz Bennett on WTIX in June of 1968.

Acapellas, yes - "Johnny Mann", no. Gary Martin's favorite word seems to be "everybody", everybody! It's Groooove Orleans, everybody! There's a nearly complete newscast featuring the classic news delivery of Mark Roberts.
