Description by Uncle Ricky

This is a short composite of WMYQ in Miami Florida, circa 1972. It's only a partial composite. The jocks are disciplined, hyped, happy and keep it moving. In fact, they all sound quite a bit alike - it's the STYLE, you see, plus the format, plus the carefully programmed music. The Art of Top 40 Radio at the dawn of a New Age. It's early 1970's FM STEREO TOP 40. You'll hear Johnny Dark, Dave Thompson, Robert W. Walker and J. Michael Stone. These guys were all over the trades in those days. What a great gig in 1972 - playing Top 40 music in stereo in Miami! This was where Top 40 was going, we all knew it, and many of us wanted to be a part of it.

Our thanks to The John Rook Collection.
