. . . I don't have anything to say . . .

[Description by Uncle Ricky]

This 'scoped recording begins with a bit of WCBS-AM on December 8, 1980, but after a few seconds, it cuts quickly to Vin Scelsa on WNEW-FM. Vin has just learned that John Lennon has been fatally shot, and his his spontaneous performance is professional radio, breathiness and all, though he was as broken as everyone. Before the end of this partially edited exhibit (in the early hours of December 9, 1980) he is joined by Dave Herman, Dennis Elsas and Scott Muni, and listeners to WNEW-FM via buzzy telephone connections.

Sooner or later we all are lost, the best are just the ones we all know about

Kevin Goldman also contributes a report. There is a classic newsclip — the ER doctor at Roosevelt Hospital. There is also an impressive list of veteran NY news reporters contributing, including Robin Sagon, Mona Rivera and John Ogle from WNEW, and an initial report from NBC featuring Ann Taylor and Brian Ross. Bill Ditka from The Source closes this remarkable exhibit.
